Good to be somewhere not completely taken over by tourists - loved the traditional Spanish feel of the village - the vans bringing bread, meat, fish and vegetables to the square - and the relaxed and friendly bars. The communal pool is a big plus, nice to see local children using it as well as the visitors. Anne, Cornwall
The Casa is perfect for a large family - we brought Granny, our 2 kids and young baby. My friend stayed with her two kids in the Casita next door. Loved the décor. We spent days in the paddling pool with endless lunches on our terrace. Slept under the stars one night. Loved the beach too, it felt so un-touristy. The pool bar in the village has great lunches too. Sara and Pete, London
I love the fact that it is an ordinary working Spanish area, the countryside and views are stunning, the roads winding up the hills are an adventure on their own, covered in olive trees and wild flowers.
The local people are very friendly and helpful and the house is cool and inviting in the heat of the day. I love the different levels, terraces and nooks and crannies in the house and would thoroughly recommend visiting Lujar. Fi, Cornwall
The village itself is a typical whitewashed village, big enough to have a lively local community and small enough not to have been spoilt. Maria in the bar is a great cook, the village swimming pool is a summer essential and the visiting fish, meat and bread vans a good way of making contact with local housewives. There are splendid views down to the sea witht he winding road surrounded by vines, olives and walnuts. Don't expect discos and cocktail bars, but do ask about walking in the Sierras, sightseeing in Granada and the Alpujarras, skiing in the winter, fiestas in the village, local (and I mean local and be careful!) wines and the whereabouts of weekly and monthly markets. It's a great place. Elizabeth
Magnificent. The temperature teased us in gently....the almonds are opening..feels like a code to taste more of the region. Anna, Bristol
