Around the corner from the Casita, approached on the lane sloping up from the road, lies the main house. Though attached to The Casita at the back, there is no entry from one to the other, you have to go via the street:

Casa Azul

  • A 4 bed mountain village house sleeping up to 10.

  • 15 mins drive to beach.

  • 5 mins walk to communal village swimming pool, tennis and basket ball courts and football pitch.

  • I hour 45 mins drive from Malaga. 60 mins from Granada and 90 mins from Almeria.

  • 60 mins to the Alhambra and the ski resorts of the Sierra Nevada

We rent the house out when we are not using it and although the wardrobes will be clear, you will find it full of our own things as this is our second home.  We ask that you replace any food or toiletries, washing powder etc that you finish with the same. (Everything can be bought at Al Campo – the large supermarket in Motril). We want you to be able to use our toys, videos, tennis rackets or whatever but do take care of them.

If you do break anything, PLEASE let us know so that I can try and bring out the replacement when I next come if you were unable to replace it yourself.

There are guide books and maps you are welcome to use but, unlike The Casita, the books in the house are to stay in the house so that if you are mid way through a read, you’ll have to leave it in the house, sorry!

The house is entered via a wrought iron gate and blue front door.

The large MASTER BEDROOM has a balcony overlooking the mountains and sea.  Double doors open at the bottom of the bed so you wake up to a wonderful view of the mountains and sea, watching the birds pick the grapes of the vines on the balcony and listening to the distant chime of the goats bells on the hills.

It has a tv video combi, an electric fan and lots of wardrobe space.

It has an adjoining CHILDRENS BEDROOM room with two fold down z beds for young children and a full size camp bed.  This room also houses dozens of videos and a shelf of guide books and maps.

Up more steps you come to the LOWER SITTING ROOM There is a tv video combi, a chest full of games including table tennis, scrabble etc and a sofa which pulls out into 2 full size single beds.  It has a ceiling fan and gas fire.

Beyond this is the DINING ROOM with a large traditional table and 10 traditional rush seat chairs. This is the table that can be used for a table tennis game. It has a ceiling fan and radiator.

Through the dining room, is the KITCHEN, a large traditional Spanish kitchen with beautiful Moroccan and terracotta tiled work tops, a painted sink and curtain fronted cupboards. In the corner is a large wood burning stove which heats the entire floor.  It is fully equipped with a large oven, micro wave and fridge freezer. It has a washing machine, a tumble dryer and an electric fan.

Off the kitchen is a play area with table football, darts and baskets of toys along with the linen cupboard.

A door off the play room leads to the bathroom, a wonderful room fully tiled in traditional Andalusian tiles with a pretty ceramic basin.  The full size bath has a shower over.

Also off the play area is a children’s BUNK ROOM.

A winding stair case with painted window leads from the lower sitting room to

the top floor…

and the BLUE BEDROOM.  This is small room with a double bed, drawers and clothes rail and a window to the back.  It has an electric fan.

Next to this is a SHOWER ROOM with a modern power shower with massage heads and jets.

The stairs also open onto the TOP SITTING ROOM, a Moroccan styled area with large sofas, comfy chairs, a TV Video combi with DVD player, CD and cassette player and a selection of dvds and cds, along with a dock for iPod. It has a ceiling fan and a window and double doors opening onto the terrace with amazing mountain and sea views.

Double doors open onto the terracotta tiled LOWER TERRACE which has dining tables to seat 10 in a shaded open area and spectacular views.

There is also a sofa area out in the sun, great for stargazing in the evenings. There are power points throughout the terraces and lighting.

Stairs from the lower terrace lead up to the SUN DECK which has 4 wooden sun loungers and various hammocks and a caned roof for shade.  It is completely private.  There are power points for the cd player, lap top etc.

A few steps lead down to the CHILDREN’S TERRACE which has a hammock, a basket ball hoop, various games and a very large paddling pool, big enough and deep enough for adults is available on request.  You’ll also find a huge drying rack here for the washing. All the terraces have spectacular views of the mountains and the sea to Morocco and are perfect for sleeping out under the stars at night.

This is a very old house, its walls are crumbly and everything is a little wonky. If you want all mod cons, then this is not really for you but if you want authentic village Spain, with privacy and without the tourists, then it’s perfect.

There is parking close by but you can’t drive the car right up to the front door. Most of the village houses are approached by pathways.

Pets are welcome in the Casita  – it’s great dog walking country- but not in the Casa Azul as my son is allergic.
